About Murray:

I build businesses. And I love technology. My work brings the two together to help create successful businesses.

In my start-ups, and in other businesses, I’ve managed the commercial, business development, legal, operations program office, and HR activities for both large and small companies. I manage for success.

In a digital business career that began with the dawn of the commercial internet, my focus has always been on achieving commercial success by establishing product-market fit and motivating teams to deliver real-world solutions. I have always been excited by emerging technologies and their applications in the real world.

With experience at the Executive and Board levels, I understand the pragmatic imperatives of the executive suite. I can connect the dots between emerging technology, the marketplace, those developing the technology, and the core organisation.

I’ve worked in large corporate environments as well as my own start-ups and government organisations. I’m able to balance Program Management requirements with effective product delivery, organisation strategy, and both Agile and waterfall delivery approaches.

Across those companies, I’ve managed diverse teams including product delivery, operations, production, customer service, credit control and sales. These teams have consistently delivered high productivity levels with low staff turnover.

My contribution to any business is evaluating product fit with organisation strategy, and working with teams to improve effectiveness and reduce product delivery times. In short, to help turn ideas and efforts into material success.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Set up and managed the Program Management Office/Product Council at two ASX listed companies.

  • Co-founded and launched businesses in the Australian and Ireland/UK markets. One business was sold to News Corp Australia and the European business was sold to Independent News and Media.

  • Led (with co-founder) the venture capital raising, technology commercialisation strategy and negotiations selling businesses in Australia and UK/Ireland, delivering a 10x return to investors in the Australian business.

  • In 12 weeks set up all the operational infrastructure for the Irish start-up business - office fit out, IT infrastructure and back-end for the websites, CRM system, and call centre set up and systems.

  • Led a two-person team that delivered a production-ready Salesforce CRM in 10 weeks. Yearly license costs were reduced by 66%, while the number of licenses available was increased by 280% to original estimates.
