Furry Green Pet Food, a Hong Kong-based social enterprise, converts edible food waste into animal food. We've already converted multiple tons of food and donated ~15% of total our production to animal shelters, feeding hundreds of animals. Our goal is to create a circular economy where food waste is upcycled into a resource for animals in need.
The problem we're solving
Annually, one-third of global food production—1.3 billion tons—goes to waste, with nearly half of all fruits and vegetables discarded. The United States alone wastes 30-40% of its food supply, equivalent to 133 billion pounds and $161 billion annually. This alarming trend not only squanders resources but also contributes to environmental degradation, highlighting the urgent need for innovative solutions to address this pressing issue.
Our solution
Furry Green Pets transforms edible food waste into nutritious pet food, addressing the global waste crisis. We collect unsold produce, meat trimmings, and pre-processed food waste to create sustainable cat and dog food. This reduces landfill waste and emissions while providing affordable, eco-friendly pet nutrition. Our solution tackles food waste and pet food sustainability simultaneously, contributing to a more circular food system.
Our differentiator
Furry Green Pets uniquely tackles food waste and pet nutrition. We source from edible food waste. In a market with few sustainable options, we offer eco-friendly products for conscious pet owners. Our process outperforms conventional recycling, creating a circular economy in pet food. We donate to animal shelters, using idle resources to help those in need.
