Brad Arnold

With a background in both Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry, my current position is as the Senior Engineering Lead at Norske Skog Boyer, where I oversee capital project management and execution. My experience includes preparing capital business cases, developing project plans, and managing risks for both business-sustaining initiatives and improvement opportunities. Additionally, I play a role in the Mill’s maintenance operations, focusing on reliability engineering, leading technical support, troubleshooting, and contingency planning. Since 2016, I’ve been actively involved with Circa, a bio-solvent startup originating in Melbourne. My journey with Circa began with the design and construction of a pilot-scale plant at Boyer, where I also supported plant operation and optimisation. In 2020, we embarked on scaling the process to a commercial-sized plant in Europe, and I have since contributed to technology assessments, piloting, proof-of-concept trials, process and plant design, while helping to develop the new project team in Europe. I enjoy the challenges and excitement that come with working in startups, and I am happy to share my experiences with emerging entrepreneurs through the SBC mentor program.
