The Problem
Australia is the biggest consumer of single use plastics per capita on the planet, bar Singapore. Brands are yet to find a scalable and affordable replacement solution that meets the exacting standards of consumer needs and robust requirements for manufacture. Existing products have problematic end of life ramifications and affects on human health. Greenwashing is rampant in the packaging sector.
The Solution
Kelpy Pellets have been developed for commercial scale manufacturing and can be processed using standard plastic manufacturing equipment to replace several of the most harmful and widely used plastics on the planet. Our pellets are made from sustainably sourced seaweed feedstock and other bio based organic ingredients that are compostable at end of life. Kelpy Pellets can be injection moulded, extruded and blown, making them suited to a wide range of products across multiple sectors. Being bio-b
The Differentiator
Kelpy Pellets are commercially viable and are comparable to the price points of existing bioplastic products. Using seaweed as a feedstock, Kelpy has the ability to scale production while providing regenerative and social benefits without impacting land-based food industries and ecosystems. Kelpy’s model provides benefits to coastal seaweed faming communities and opportunity to uplift women from social and economic disadvantage.

Biggest achievement
Kelpy is the first Australian company to be elected for the AB-InBev 100+ Accelerator with paid pilots underway with Unilever and Colgate Palmolive. We have successfully beat out our global competitors in other industry trials for multinational customers in the fashion and consumer goods markets.
